Powder Coating offers fabulous colours to use with enamelled surfaces or on it's own!   We sell only Canadian made Powder Coats (Emerald and Tiger) that have been tested on jewellery pieces.

Powder coating is a process that can be used to protect and improve the appearance of metal surfaces, or pre-enamelled pieces.   Powder coat can be used on virtually any metal, and many other surfaces, cures at a lower heat temperature (400 f 204 c), and offers a very wide variety of colours.

Remember the firing temperature is way lower than enamel, so enamel must be applied and fired first.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to powder coat jewellery:

  1. Prepare the Jewelry: Clean and prepare the metal jewelry pieces to be coated. Ensure they are free from dirt, grease, and any other contaminants.
  2. Choose the Powder: Select a powder coating color that suits your design. You can find a variety of powder colors online or at specialized suppliers.
  3. Apply the Powder: Use a sifter to lightly sift the powder on your piece.   Be sure to ensure that the sifter is clean if you use it for enamel.
  4. Cure the Powder: Place the jewelry in a preheated oven or toaster oven at approximately 400 degrees (some variance's by brand) and cure the powder coat. The curing time will vary depending on the type of powder and the temperature, but it is an average of 10 mins..
  5. A transparent coat of powder coat can be applied once your piece is finished to protect your piece further, but this is not always necessary as if the powder coat is cured properly it will be extremely durable.
